Viera Boulevard Roadway Widening Project

Statement – For Immediate Release

Viera, FL Oct. 26, 2018 – This week, The Viera Company officially commenced the Viera Boulevard roadway widening project extending from Heron’s Landing eastward towards US Hwy 1. These improvements include the widening of Viera Boulevard from two lanes to four lanes and the installation of a traffic signal at Viera Boulevard and Holiday Springs Road.

Todd J. Pokrywa, President of The Viera Company, stated, “We have successfully worked with Brevard County to advance the construction of this roadway improvement project by one year. By beginning construction now, we are able to better align the widening work with the completion of the I-95/Viera Boulevard Interchange construction activities, thereby improving the movement of traffic for Viera residents and businesses on the roadway network in and around the master-planned community.”

The Viera Company is fully funding and overseeing the widening project at a cost of over $2 million. The installation of an eventual traffic signal at Viera Boulevard and Holiday Springs Road will be cost shared between Brevard County and The Viera Company. This arrangement was requested by Brevard County to advance and incorporate the permanent signalization work into the widening project. The widening of Viera Boulevard comes shortly after The Viera Company completed the dual left turn lanes heading westbound to southbound at Stadium Parkway and Viera Boulevard. The dual left turn lanes at this intersection were also fully funded by The Viera Company at a cost of approximately $200,000 and are designed to manage traffic volumes associated with the planned growth and the pending opening of the new I-95/Viera Boulevard Interchange.

This project is estimated to be completed by mid-2019 to closely coincide with the construction and completion of the new I-95/Viera Boulevard Interchange, which is targeted for completion by the Florida Department of Transportation during May 2019.
