THE VIERA COMPANY ANNOUNCES LEGAL DEPARTMENT ORGANIZATIONAL CHANGES

October 31, 2023 – The Viera Company recently announced promotions and organizational changes within the company’s legal department.

Jay Decator, Senior Vice President and General Counsel for The Viera Company, has announced his retirement effective December 31st, 2023. Todd Pokrywa, President of The Viera Company stated, “Jay has been an integral part of the success and development of the top-selling master-planned community of Viera and has provided close to 30 years of commitment and dedication to DUDA and The Viera Company. I want to personally thank Jay for his friendship, trusted legal counsel, and loyal service and wish him a very happy retirement from the entire company.”

Decator reflected, “I’m so fortunate to have had a career with DUDA that allowed me to work in an area of the law I found gratifying for almost 30 years – helping develop and build a community where families can live, work, and thrive. It was an amazing professional journey which I’ve never regretted and will miss very much.”

Ascending to the General Counsel position vacated by Mr. Decator is Benjamin Wilson, current Associate Corporate Counsel, effective January 1st, 2024. Pokrywa remarked, “The Viera Company is very pleased to announce the well-earned promotion of Ben Wilson to General Counsel. I look forward to working more closely with Ben as he begins his new duties leading our legal department while applying the considerable real estate knowledge and skills that have been further developed from working with Jay for many years.” Mr. Wilson has been Associate Corporate Counsel for The Viera Company and worked side-by-side with Mr. Decator for the last seven years. Mr. Wilson completed his undergraduate degree at Murray State University and has been pursuing his Master of Business Administration (MBA) at the University of Kentucky. Mr. Wilson completed his Juris Doctorate at the University of Louisville School of Law, later earning his Master of Law in Real Property Development at University of Miami. Wilson said, “I am excited to be named General Counsel of The Viera Company, and thankful for the opportunity to continue my work with the team on the development and growth of Viera as a top master-planned community in the United States.”

Mark Boyd, attorney and partner at the law firm Boyd & Boyd in Melbourne, Florida, will be joining The Viera Company as Associate Counsel effective November 14th, 2023. “I welcome Mark Boyd to The Viera Company as my Associate Counsel. I look forward to working with him for many years in connection with the development of Viera,” said Wilson. Mr. Boyd has worked the last six years in local private practice. Prior to that, Mr. Boyd worked as a title agent for Brevard Title, as a prosecuting attorney for the State of Georgia, and as an Associate Counsel with the law firm Savell & Williams, LLP in Atlanta. He completed his undergraduate degree at Duke University and earned his law degree at the University of Georgia. Boyd stated, “The development of Viera has been positively transformational for this community, and I am old enough to have witnessed some of its earliest days. To be able to apply my professional skills in this role with The Viera Company moving forward is a unique opportunity, which I
am honored to have.”
