Happy World Wetlands Day!

February 2, 2021 – Located in Viera between the Moccasin Island Tract of the River Lakes Conservation Area and the Brevard Zoo, Viera Wetlands is popular among birders, photographers, eco-tourists and Viera residents.

Choose Viera Wetlands to celebrate World Wetlands Day, designed to “raise global awareness about the vital role of wetlands for people and our planet.”  Viera Wetlands serves a dual purpose of water management/treatment and eco-tourism. The wetland system covers 200 acres with four storage ponds (or cells) of about 35 acres each, plus a central lake.

When weather conditions permit, Viera Wetlands is accessible by automobile, making the site popular among those who find the rigors of hiking trails daunting. The berms are also accessible on foot or bicycle, weather permitting.  Check the hotline for current conditions — Hotline: (321) 255-4488.

This is a great time of the year to see an amazing variety of birds.
